Petricolour is a sample pack built around R&B, hip-hop, and experimental production. Created by Athan and Joemade, it combines live instrumentation, hardware processing, and unconventional sound manipulation to create a varied collection of samples.
The pack includes a versatile selection of song starters, drum loops, vocals, and layered textures. The melodic character ranges from soulful to a darker and more unsettling atmosphere, while the drum loops are designed for heavier, groove-focused production. Vocals range from soft and intimate performances to more distorted and eerie sounds.
Many of the sounds were processed through hardware and pedals to create unique textures and imperfections. This includes JX-3P chords processed through an Alesis Quadraverb, as well as real acoustic instruments such as guitar, piano, kalimba, flutes and more.
Petricolour is designed to give producers material that can be chopped, layered, resampled, and rearranged. The sounds are intentionally processed in ways that leave room for experimentation while still providing a strong foundation for R&B, hip-hop, and more experimental styles.
